A business near Licking, Missouri in Texas County has again been heavily damaged by fire for the second time in as many years.
Jimmy Sherrill, Chief of the Licking Volunteer Fire Department, tells KOLR10 News his crews were called to the Current River Pole Company just before 10:30 last night.
When firefighters got there, about half the building was already in flames. The company manufactures wood poles, shavings and pellets.
Sherrill says he called for help from half a dozen other area fire departments, which helped knock down the flames. "We would likely have had a different outcome without that help," Sherrill said.
He says the building is still standing, although equipment inside was heavily damaged. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause, but wood shavings may have caught on fire, Sherrill said.
Two years ago, a similar fire also did heavy damage to the same company, but owners rebuilt.
